Be-hold will present a number of 20th-century prints, including a vintage Lewis Hine, an early Ansel Adams (for a Yosemite lodge menu,) a group of self-portraits by Margaret Bourke-White, and other interesting prints by Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Philippe Halsman and others. There is a possibly unique 1964 portfolio by Sol Libsohn dealing with a project in Newark, NJ to rehabilitate out-of-work youth. There are some wonderful collections of portraits of figures from early 20th-century popular dance (Irene Castle) and cinema (Constance and Norma Talmadge.) Nineteenth-century material includes an important life size hand-colored lithograph of Andrew Jackson, probably by Brady, based on a lost daguerreotype. Included in the selection of daguerreotypes is a stereoscopic daguerreotype by T. R. Williams. There is an albumen print by Eadweard Muybridge of a scene in Panama. The rare 4-volume "Illustrations of China and its People" by John Thompson is included. As usual there is a strong offering of material related to the history and representation of American Indians and blacks. The stereoviews include a small interesting group related to flowers from the fabled Sam Wagstaff collection.
